CLP-Net: an advanced artificial intelligence technique for localizing standard planes of cleft lip and palate by three-dimensional ultrasound in the first trimester.

BMC Pregnancy Childbirth

January 2025

National-Regional Key Technology Engineering Laboratory for Medical Ultrasound, School of Biomedical Engineering, Health Science Center, Shenzhen University, Xueyuan Blvd, Nanshan, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China.

Background: Early diagnosis of cleft lip and palate (CLP) requires a multiplane examination, demanding high technical proficiency from radiologists. Therefore, this study aims to develop and validate the first artificial intelligence (AI)-based model (CLP-Net) for fully automated multi-plane localization in three-dimensional(3D) ultrasound during the first trimester.

Methods: This retrospective study included 418 (394 normal, 24 CLP) 3D ultrasound from 288 pregnant woman between July 2022 to October 2024 from Shenzhen Guangming District People's Hospital during the 11-13 weeks of pregnancy.

Automatic virtual reduction of unilateral zygomatic fractures based on ICP algorithm: A preliminary study.

J Stomatol Oral Maxillofac Surg

January 2025

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology, PR China; National Engineering Laboratory for Digital and Material Technology of Stomatology, PR China; Beijing Key Laboratory of Digital Stomatology, PR China; National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, Beijing, PR China. Electronic address:

Objective: To establish an automatic reduction method for unilateral zygomatic fractures based on Iterative Closes Point (ICP) algorithm.

Material And Methods: 60 patients with unilateral type B zygomatic fractures were included. After acquiring CT images, zygomatic fragments were segmented using self-developed software MICSys.

Objectives: The study aims to evaluate the pulp-to-tooth area ratio in permanent maxillary central incisors, lateral incisors, and canines for age estimation using three-dimensional cone beam computed tomography images.

Methods: Hundred cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images of patients aged between 12-70 years were retrospectively studied using NNT Viewer software version 13. Pulpal and teeth area were evaluated with the "area tool" in the acquired images in all three planes, and the pulp-to-tooth area ratio (PTR) was calculated with the measurements obtained.

Objective: There are many advantages to stabilize the posterior pelvic ring injuries with a transiliac-transsacral (TITS) screw percutaneously. To identify the correct entry point and insert a guidewire accurately for a TITS screw, we propose a method of specifying the optimal entry point, and introduce a technique of enabling freehand placement of a guidewire with fluoroscopic guidance.

Methods: In this retrospective study, 116 patients who underwent pelvic CT scans and pelvic lateral radiographs at our institution from January 2020 to April 2022 were enrolled.

New reference charts for fetal ultrasound corpus callosum length with emphasis on the third trimester.

J Gynecol Obstet Hum Reprod

November 2024

Fetal Ultrasound Department, Centre d'échographie de l'Odéon, Paris, France; Fetal Medicine Department, American Hospital of Paris, Neuilly sur Seine, France; Plateforme LUMIERE, Hôpital universitaire Necker enfants malades, URP 7328 and PACT, affiliated to Imagine Institut, Université de Paris, Faculté de médecine, Paris, France.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to create new reference charts for measuring the length of the fetal corpus callosum (CC) during the third trimester, based on a large sample of healthy fetuses, and establish growth evaluation standards using CC length ratios.
  • Conducted from November 2021 to June 2022 at a specialized fetal ultrasound center, the research involved precise measurements of the CC in fetuses aged 17 to 36 weeks, excluding those with inaccurate gestational ages or high risk of brain abnormalities.
  • Results showed high measurement quality (92.8% accuracy) and established a formula for CC length based on gestational age, with consistent ECOFD/CC and HC/CC ratios, proposing them as additional markers for normal CC
