In legal medicine, the determination of post-mortem interval (PMI) is not only an important but also one of the most difficult aspects. Several methods are used to estimate PMI such as physicochemical, entomological, biochemical, metabolic, autolytic, and physical methods. These methods provide a wide range of PMI as they are affected by different factors.

Filtration surgery is commonly performed for glaucoma treatment to reduce intraocular pressure (IOP); however, scarring of the filtering bleb is the main cause of failure. In this study, we evaluated the effects of the chloride channel blocker 5-nitro-2-(3-phenylpropylamino)benzoic acid (NPPB) on scar formation in filtering blebs. A glaucoma filtering surgery model was generated using Sprague-Dawley rats, divided into the control and NPPB groups receiving injections of different NPPB concentrations.

To investigate the correlation between NPPB gene variants and pulse pressure hypertension and the underlying regulatory mechanisms and try to confirm that NPPB may be a potential molecular target of gene therapy for pulse pressure hypertension. A total of 898 participants were recruited from the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University and the plasmids with differential expression of NPPB were constructed. Genotype distribution of NPPB(rs3753581, rs198388, and rs198389)was analyzed and the expression of N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide(NT-proBNP) and renin-angiotensin -aldosterone system(RAAS) related indicators were identified in the groups studied.

Background: Mesothelioma is a neoplastic disease associated with asbestos exposure. It is highly malignant and has a poor prognosis; thus, early detection is desirable. Recent whole-genome analysis has revealed that mesothelioma is characterized by a high frequency of mutations in a set of genes involved in the Hippo pathway, such as NF2 and LATS2.

Pressure injury management requires reliable identification of critical colonisation due to lack of infection signs. Our research group previously proposed the mRNAs natriuretic peptide B (Nppb), integrin subunit beta 6 (Itgb6), copine 4 (Cpne4), echinoderm microtubule-associated protein like 5, and intersectin 1 as candidate markers in pooled exudates of critically colonised wounds. However, it is unclear whether mRNAs or proteins of the candidate genes would be suitable as biomarkers in fresh exudate.
