Background: Omega-3 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFAs) are important dietary components for maternal and infant health during pregnancy and lactation.
Objective: This study investigated determinants of maternal and infant LCPUFAs status at three months postpartum and the relationship between maternal serum, mother's milk, and infant LCPUFAs.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included mothers (n=1481) and their offspring (n=526) at three months postpartum from the APrON cohort.
Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterised by cognitive decline, memory loss, and impaired daily functioning. As the global population ages, the prevalence of AD continues to rise, emphasising the urgent need for effective preventive and therapeutic strategies. Carotenoids, a group of naturally occurring pigments with antioxidant properties, have gained attention for their potential neuroprotective effects.

As the progression of the disease may be slowed down by disease-modifying therapies, but not stopped, research identifying further therapeutic approaches is necessary. Ovarian cancer (OC) must be detected in its early stages when the mortality rate is the lowest to provide patients with the best chance of survival. Lysophosphatidic acid (LPA) is a critical OC biomarker since its levels are elevated across all stages and increase with disease progression. This paper presents an LPA assay based on a thickness shear mode acoustic sensor with dissipation monitoring that involves a new thiol molecule 3-(2-mercaptoethanoxy)propanoic acid (HS-MEG-COOH).
