In edematous rats with circulatory insufficiency, the content of water and sodium in the muscle and liver rises while that of potassium declines per 1 g wet weight. The increased sodium and decreased potassium content in the tissues cannot be accounted for only by enlargement of the extracellular volume. In contrast to normal rats, the edematous ones show a negative linear correlation between the content of sodium and potassium in the muscle and liver. The total content of sodium and potassium in the tissues increases. It is assumed that part of intracellular potassium in the test tissues of rats with circulatory insufficiency is replaced by sodium. The proportion of sodium bound to structural components of the cell increases.

Purpose: To investigate the effect of Rho-associated protein kinase (ROCK) inhibitor Y27632 on bioenergetic capacity and resilience of corneal endothelial cells (CECs) under metabolic stress.
Methods: Bovine CECs (BCECs) were treated with Y27632 and subjected to bioenergetic profiling using the Seahorse XFp Analyzer. The effects on adenosine triphosphate (ATP) production through oxidative phosphorylation and glycolysis were measured.
Purpose: To compare remineralisation efficacy between silver diamine fluoride (SDF) combined with potassium iodide (KI) and sodium fluoride (NaF) varnish using hydroxyapatite (HAP) artificial white spot lesions (AWSLs) demineralisation model.
Materials And Methods: A total of 25 HAP disks was randomly divided into five groups (n = 5): baseline, AWSLs, deionized water (DW), SDF-KI or F-varnish. After AWSLs were developed, the specimen was treated with either deionized water, SDF-KI or F-varnish.

Cardiac glycosides, known as inhibitors of Na,K-ATPase, have anti-cancer effects such as suppression of cancer cell proliferation and induction of cancer cell death. Here, we examined the signaling pathway elicited by cardiac glycosides in the human hepatocellular carcinoma HepG2 cells and human epidermoid carcinoma KB cells. Three kinds of cardiac glycosides (ouabain, oleandrin, and digoxin) inhibited the cancer cell proliferation and decreased the expression level of thyroid adenoma-associated protein (THADA).
