153 patients with a local carcinoma limited to the thoracic region underwent irradiation with weekly doses of 1 x 5.0 Gy TD, 2 x 5.0 Gy TD, 4 x 2.5 or 5 x 2.0 Gy TD up to a total dose of generally 60.0 Gy TD. Collectives comparable in view of stages and histology did not show significant differences in 3-year survival rates, though a tendency toward low doses was recognizable.
