Evidence is given that the organo-phosphates mevinphos and malathion perturb the retinal functioning of the white mouse by acting 1. directly on the photoreceptors; 2. by a synaptolytic effect due to the inhibition of cholinesterases; 3. likely by a damage of the bipolar and/or the ganglion neurones.

Background: Major contributors to AD pathogenesis include aggregates of amyloid-β (Aβ) peptides, hyperphosphorylated tau protein, and neuroinflammation. No currently approved treatment stops or significantly slows the progression of AD. Nevertheless, one class of agents that has shown promise is metal chelators.

A therapeutic study of JNPL3 mice with chronic treatment from 7-12 months of age inhibited the progression of tau aggregation and improved motor coordination.

Background: Venetoclax + azacitidine is a frontline treatment for older adult acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients and a salvage therapy for relapsed/refractory patients who have been treated with intensive chemotherapy. While this is an important treatment option, many patients fail to achieve complete remission and of those that do, majority relapse. Leukemia stem cells (LSCs) are believed to be responsible for AML relapse and can be targeted through oxidative phosphorylation reduction.

Agriculture dust contains many organic immunogenic compounds, and organic dust exposure is strongly associated with the development of immune-mediated chronic pulmonary diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Chronic organic dust exposure from agriculture sources induces chronic lung inflammatory diseases and organic dust exposure has recently been linked to an increased risk of developing dementia. The cytokine interleukin-22 (IL-22) has been established as an important mediator in the resolution and repair of lung tissues.

Purpose: In the aging retina, persistent activation of microglia is known to play a key role in retinal degenerative diseases like age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Furthermore, dysregulation of the alternative complement pathway is generally accepted as the main driver for AMD disease progression and microglia are important producers of local complement and are equipped with complement receptors themselves. Here, we investigate the involvement of anaphylatoxin signaling, predominantly on Iba1+ cell activity, in light-induced retinal degeneration as a model for dry AMD, using anaphylatoxin receptor knockout (KO) mice.
