Neurons are highly polarized cells, with axons that may innervate distant target regions. In the brain, basal forebrain cholinergic neurons (BFCNs) possess extensive axons that project to several target regions such as the cortex, hippocampus, and amygdala, and may be exposed to a specific microenvironment in their axon targets that may have retrograde effects on neuronal health. Interestingly, BFCNs express the pan-neurotrophin receptor p75NTR throughout life while also concomitantly co-expressing all Trk receptors, making them capable of responding to both mature and precursor neurotrophins to promote survival or apoptosis, respectively.

Malignant biliary obstruction presents a significant therapeutic challenge and has serious consequences including cholangitis and death. Clinically, biliary stenting using self-expanding metallic- stent(SEMS) relieves this obstruction. However, stent occlusion occurs with time due to tumor/epithelial in-growth and bacterial colonization.

Cervical cancer (CCA) is the predominant cause of fatalities from gynecologic malignancies, with metastasis responsible for 80 % of cancer-related mortalities. This study preliminarily examined the involvement of Sialic Acid Binding Ig Like Lectin 15 (Siglec-15) in the development of CCA and its probable mechanisms. We assessed the capacity of Siglec-15 to modulate CCA progression by establishing knockdown and overexpression Siglec-15 cell lines, supplemented with animal models, using both in vivo and in vitro dual investigations.

Aim The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Guttaflow Bioseal (Coltene/Whaledent, Altstätten, Switzerland) in achieving an apical seal when utilized as a retrograde filling material in comparison to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). Methods Twenty single-rooted single-canaled human teeth were randomly allocated into two equal groups according to the used retrograde filling materials: Guttaflow Bioseal in group I and MTA in group II. The crowns were sectioned, and the root canals were prepared with rotary files and obturated (single cone technique with a resin-based sealer).

Salidroside, a glucoside of tyrosol, is a powerful active ingredient extracted from the Chinese herb medicine Rhodiola rosea L.. As a neuroprotective agent, the application of salidroside in combination with neural tissue engineering has recently attracted much attention in peripheral nerve repair and reconstruction.
