Members of the KCNE family are accessory subunits that modulate voltage-gated potassium channels. One member, KCNE4, has been shown to inhibit the potassium ion current in these channels. However, little is known about the structure, dynamics, and mode of inhibition of KCNE4, likely due to challenges in overexpressing and purifying the protein.

In Escherichia coli, three ribosomal RNAs and 54 ribosomal proteins are synthesized and subjected to cooperative hierarchical assembly facilitated by numerous accessory factors. Realizing ribosome biogenesis in vitro is a critical milestone for understanding the self-replication of life and creating artificial cells.

The N-Myc transcription factor, encoded by MYCN, is a mechanistically validated, yet challenging, target for neuroblastoma (NB) therapy development. In normal neuronal progenitors, N-Myc undergoes rapid degradation, while, in MYCN-amplified NB cells, Aurora kinase A (Aurora-A) binds to and stabilizes N-Myc, resulting in elevated protein levels. Here, we demonstrate that targeted protein degradation of Aurora-A decreases N-Myc levels.

Nucleic acid testing (NAT) is widely considered the gold standard in analytical fields, with applications spanning environmental monitoring, forensic science and clinical diagnostics, among others. However, its widespread use is often constrained by complicated assay procedures, the need for specialized equipment, and the complexity of reagent handling. In this study, we demonstrate a fully integrated 3D-printed biosensensing device employing a CRISPR/Cas12a-based dual-enzymatic mechanism for highly sensitive and user-friendly nucleic acid detection.

Unlabelled: can colonize a wide variety of environments (e.g., freshwater, brackish, alkaline, or alkaline-saline water) and develop dominant and even permanent blooms that overshadow and limit the diversity of adjacent phototrophs, especially in alkaline and saline environments.
