Therapeutic strategy for efficiently targeting cancer cells needs an in-depth understanding of the cellular and molecular interplay in the tumor microenvironment (TME). TME comprises heterogeneous cells clustered together to translate tumor initiation, migration, and proliferation. The TME mainly comprises proliferating tumor cells, stromal cells, blood vessels, lymphatic vessels, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), extracellular matrix (ECM), and cancer stem cells (CSC).

Artificial intelligence (AI) is a promising approach to identify new antimicrobial compounds in diverse microbial species. Here we developed an AI-based, explainable deep learning model, EvoGradient, that predicts the potency of antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) and virtually modifies peptide sequences to produce more potent AMPs, akin to in silico directed evolution. We applied this model to peptides encoded in low-abundance human oral bacteria, resulting in the virtual evolution of 32 peptides into potent AMPs.

PurposeChimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell CD19 therapy has changed the treatment paradigm for patients with relapsed/refractory B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia. It is frequently associated with potentially severe toxicities: cytokine release syndrome (CRS) and immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity syndrome (ICANS), and admission to PICU is often required. Some biomarkers seem to correlate with CRS severity.

Down syndrome is the most prevalent genetic condition contributing to intellectual disability. Advancements in medical care have significantly increased the life expectancy of people with this condition, making employment a vital component for independent living and quality of life. The aim of this study was to examine the current literature on the employability and employment experiences of individuals with Down syndrome, focusing on the evolution of the employment rate and factors influencing employment such as cognitive and personal factors, societal attitudes, challenges, and effective support systems.

The discovery that extracellular RNAs (exRNA) can act as endocrine signalling molecules established a novel paradigm in intercellular communication. ExRNAs can be transported, both locally and systemically in virtually all body fluids. In association with an array of carrier vehicles of varying complexity, exRNA can alter target cell phenotype.
