Autologous blood therapy has emerged as a promising modality in managing ocular surface disorders. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the current literature regarding the use of autologous blood in ocular surface disorders, encompassing its physiological basis, clinical applications, techniques, challenges, and future perspectives. The ocular surface, comprising the cornea, conjunctiva, and tear film, plays a critical role in maintaining visual function, and its disruption can lead to various pathological conditions.

Dry eye disease (DED) is a common multifactorial disorder characterized by a deficiency in the quality and/or quantity of tear fluid. Tear hyperosmolarity, the dysfunction of ion channel proteins, and eye inflammation are primarily responsible for the development and progression of DED. Alterations in the structure and/or function of ion channel receptors (transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1), transient receptor potential melastatin 8 (TRPM8), transient receptor potential vanilloid 1 and 4 (TRPV1 and TRPV4)), and consequent hyperosmolarity of the tears represent the initial step in the development and progression of DED.

Background/objectives: Lifitegrast is an effective treatment for dry eye disease, reducing inflammation and improving the ocular surface condition. Owing to its high sensitivity to oxidation and hydrolysis, formulation studies are required to maintain the physicochemical stability of lifitegrast. This study aimed to overcome the instability of lifitegrast by developing a more stable eyedrop formulation by using citric acid and tromethamine to prevent the degradation of lifitegrast.

Tuberculosis (TB) continues to be a major global health burden, with high incidence and mortality rates, compounded by the emergence and spread of drug-resistant strains. The limitations of current TB medications and the urgent need for new drugs targeting drug-resistant strains, particularly multidrug-resistant (MDR) and extensively drug-resistant (XDR) TB, underscore the pressing demand for innovative anti-TB drugs that can shorten treatment duration. This has led to a focus on targeting energy metabolism of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) as a promising approach for drug discovery.

Objective: To explore a method for establishing a model of ocular accommodative spasm in guinea pigs by using different concentrations of carbachol eye drops and different frequency of administration.
Methods: Eighteen healthy guinea pigs were selected to establish models for both eyes. Guinea pigs were randomly divided into two groups.
