We have studied hemoglobin synthesis associated with erythroid bursts under various conditions. The slope of the curve relating log cell number to log hemoglobin synthesis is consistently greater than the slope of the curve relating log cell number to log bursts, suggesting that cellular interactions may be involved in maximal hemoglobin synthesis by the cells comprising the bursts. This suggestion if strengthened by experiments which show that gentle disruption of burst structure is accompanied by a decline in hemoglobin synthesis.

Background: The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of good metabolic control, based on glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels, on oral health status and the need for orthodontic treatment in children.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was carried out at the Dental Clinic of the University of Salamanca (Spain) during the years 2020 and 2024. A total of 260 children with type 1 diabetes (aged between 6 and 12 years) participated.

Blood transfusion plays a vital role in modern medicine, but frequent shortages occur. Ex vivo manufacturing of red blood cells (RBCs) from universal donor cells offers a potential solution, yet the high cost of recombinant cytokines remains a barrier. Erythropoietin (EPO) signaling is crucial for RBC development, and EPO is among the most expensive media components.

In most cases, the diagnosis of diabetes in animal models is based solely on blood glucose levels. While hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is widely used in the diagnosis of diabetes in humans, it is rarely measured in mice in diabetes research. This is thought to be because there are no established reference values for mouse HbA1c, as well as the fact that there are very few reports on the variability and reproducibility of measurements taken using different devices.

Akkermansia muciniphila is a promising target for managing obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D), but human studies are limited. We conducted a 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial involving 58 participants with overweight or obese T2D, who received A. muciniphila (AKK-WST01) or placebo, along with routine lifestyle guidance.

Minocycline is an antibiotic of the tetracycline family which is widely used to treat a range of medical conditions. Although it has been in use for more than 50 years, little information is available on its metabolism in the human body. In this study, we simulate the biotransformation of minocycline by means of electrochemistry coupled to mass spectrometry.
