Therapy of urinary bladder tumors with the aid of the Neodymium-YAG-laser is improved by two following demands. A homogeneous, deep necrosis must be obtained for the tumor cells to be devitalised completely, and neighbouring organs must be protected adequately. Both depth and shape of the necrosis were determined on liver tissue at different conditions, e.g. laser application with air, water and various time/power ratios. Measurements of temperature profiles at the bladder back wall reveal that the parameters necessary for sufficient transmural destruction of bladder tumors do not affect neighbouring organs. In clinical application it is not necessary to control temperatures occurring at the bladder wall during irradiation by means of temperature probes. It is sufficient to adjust the dosis of laser on the basis of superficial, visual discoloration. Carbonisation should be avoided by all means. Comparable effects were obtained by clinical application of data obtained during animal experimentation.

The growing sophistication of tumor molecular profiling has helped to slowly transition oncologic care toward a more personalized approach in different tumor types, including in bladder cancer. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network recommends that all patients with stage IVA and stage IVB urothelial carcinoma have molecular analysis that integrates at least testing to help facilitate the selection of future therapeutic options. Sequencing of tumor-derived tissue is the mainstay to obtain this genomic testing, but as in other cancers, there has been extensive research into the integration of liquid biopsies in longitudinal management.

Sonodynamic therapy, a treatment modality recently widely used, is capable of disrupting the tumor microenvironment by inducing immunogenic cell death (ICD) and enhancing antitumor immunity during immunotherapy. Erdafitinib, an inhibitor of the fibroblast growth factor receptor, has demonstrated potential benefits for treating bladder cancer. However, Erdafitinib shows effectiveness in only a small number of patients, and the majority of patients responding positively to the medication have "immune-cold" tumors.

Objective: Given the increasing significance of digital health literacy (DHL) and health literacy (HL) in promoting informed decision-making and healthy behaviors, this study aimed to assess the influence of self-reported HL and DHL on treatment adherence and quality of life among patients who underwent transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TUR-BT) for primary non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC).
Materials & Methods: This single-center observational study involved patients who underwent TUR-BT for NIMBC at a tertiary hospital from May 2022 to February 2024. Before the procedure, the patients' DHL and HL were evaluated using the European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire short version and the eHealth Literacy Scale.
