Plasma catecholamine (CA) were measured in August and Wistar rats before and during immobilization. A catheter was inserted into the tail artery to permit direct measurement of blood pressure (BP). The BP was the same in August and Wistar Understress as in control rats. The CA level was higher in August rats. Adrenaline and noradrenaline contents differed in rats of these strains which suggested different release of CAs from the adrenal medulla and sympathetic neurons in these rats during immobilization. The stability of BP under emotional stress was mostly correlated with the lower control level of plasma CAs and with their slightly increased level during immobilization.

Maternal swimming with overload allied to postnatal high-fat, high-sugar diet induce subtle impairment on rat offspring's ovarian redox homeostasis.

Context The Developmental Origins of Health and Disease (DOHaD) concept suggests that early-life interventions significantly influence the long-term health outcomes of offspring. Emerging evidence supports that maternal physical exercise and balanced nutrition can positively impact the health of the next generation. Aims This study investigated the effects of maternal swimming combined with postnatal high-fat, high-sugar (HFHS) diet on the ovarian health of adult female Wistar rat offspring.

Naringin supplementation during pregnancy alters rat offspring's brain redox system and mitochondrial function.

Naringin supplementation is known to ameliorate oxidative stress in the central nervous system (CNS) and improve cognitive function in disease models using adult rodents. However, if this supplementation is applied during critical periods of development, would it still be beneficial? To address this question, we used pregnant Wistar rats that were supplemented daily with naringin (100 mg/kg) during gestation. After delivery, pups were euthanized on postnatal day (PND) 1, 7, and 21.

Caudal vertebra rat free flap in the groin: A preliminary study of a new combined osteocutaneous flap model.

Introduction: Murins were used for microsurgical training but in the literature, only a few papers reported about murin combination of flaps and fewer about osteocutaneous ones. We proposed a rat model of a combined osteocutaneous flap in which the pedicle axis is intentionally lengthened.

Technical Note: From June to August 2020, one corpse and eight living Albinos Wistar rats were dissected.

In vitro primary cell culture models of retinal ganglion cells (RGC) are widely used to study pathomechanisms of diseases such as glaucoma. The biomechanic interaction with the culture substrate is known to influence core cellular functions. RGC cultures, however, are usually grown on rigid plastic or glass substrates.

Article Synopsis
  • Nanotechnology plays a crucial role in enhancing drug delivery systems, specifically through the development of smart nanocarriers that target specific sites for treatment in the pharmaceutical field.
  • This study focused on evaluating niosomes loaded with specific extracts (SmE) in rats suffering from hepatic encephalopathy caused by a high-fructose diet, analyzing their effectiveness against control and metformin-treated groups.
  • Results showed that while both the niosome formulation (SmE-N) and metformin improved various health parameters compared to the high-fructose diet group, SmE-N demonstrated greater efficacy in alleviating complications related to fructose-induced metabolic disorders.
