Objective And Design: Macroprolactinemia may influence the interpretation of serum prolactin levels-a recognised phenomenon since 1981. The degree of macroprolactinaemia over time is less well described. We determined how macroprolactin status (based on polyethylene glycol (PEG) precipitation) varied by analysing serial measurements in hyperprolactinaemic individuals over a period of 9 years.

Objective: Guidelines stipulate that baseline prolactin be ordered prior to commencing antipsychotic treatment to facilitate investigation of any subsequent hyperprolactinaemic symptoms. The aim was to observe when and why prolactin levels are ordered for psychiatry inpatients commencing or continuing antipsychotics and how this alters clinical management.
Methods: Psychiatry inpatients admitted to the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne, Australia, in 2018 with the diagnoses of psychosis, schizophrenia, schizo-affective disorder or bipolar affective disorder were retrospectively analysed.

Metformin was found to reduce elevated prolactin levels in women but not in men. The current study was aimed at investigating whether endogenous testosterone determines the impact of metformin on lactotroph function in men. This prospective case-control study included 28 men with recently diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus and mild or moderate hyperprolactinaemia, 14 of whom had low testosterone levels, while in the remaining 14 ones' testosterone levels were within the reference range.

Background: To identify a serum prolactin (PRL) cut-off value indicative of a PRL-producing adenoma in women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and hyperprolactinaemia and characterize such patients.
Materials And Methods: In the present retrospective case-control study, the medical records of 528 PCOS women were reviewed. Pituitary magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed in PCOS patients with PRL levels ≥94.

Unlabelled: Secondary amenorrhoea and galactorrhoea represent a common endocrine presentation. We report a case of an oestrogen-producing juvenile granulosa cell tumour (JGCT) of the ovary in a 16-year-old post-pubertal woman with hyperprolactinaemia amenorrhoea and galactorrhoea which resolved following surgical resection of the tumour. This patient presented with a 9-month history of secondary amenorrhoea and a 2-month history of galactorrhoea.
