A peroxidase has been isolated from soybean nodules and its main characteristics have been determined. Its molecular weight (48 000) and spectral properties are similar to those of usual plant peroxidases. Its activity is comparable to that of low-efficiency plant peroxidases. The rate constant of the reaction with H2O2 is 3 x 10(5) M-1 x s-1. In this reaction, nodule peroxidase yields an oxidized intermediate analogous to the compound I species of peroxidases already studied. A comparison is made with the pseudoperoxidatic activity of soybean leghemoglobin components. Leghemoglobins a and c react with H2O2 with rate constants of 5 x 10(3) and 2.5 x 10(3) M-1 x s-1, respectively, yielding the leghemoglobin (IV) species. During these reactions leghemoglobins are inactivated.

Cadmium (Cd) toxicity poses major challenges to rice cultivation, affecting plant growth and development. Wild rice and nanoparticles offer promising strategies to enhance Cd tolerance, yet little is known about their combined effects. This study evaluates the single segment substitution line (SG004) from Oryza glumaepatula (wild rice) and its response to Cd stress compared to cultivated rice (HJX74).

The research intended to explore the control ability of alginate oligosaccharide (AOS) on Penicillium expansum infection in pear fruit by priming response and its mechanism. The results showed that 100 mg L AOS treatment could significantly reduce the incidence of postharvest blue mold and the lesion diameter in pear fruits and maintain their quality. The defense responses induced by AOS treatment alone were relatively mild in pear fruits.

There is a growing need for sustainable, efficient methods to promote plant growth and protect crops, with plant extracts offering natural, multi-component solutions. Based on previous observations, , , and were selected from 17 water extracts to investigate how the application times of soil sprays affect the antioxidant enzymes and secondary metabolites in fruity and leafy vegetables at different growth stages. From 1 week after sowing (WAS) to 4 WAS, all applications increased the shoot fresh weight by 42-69% in cucumbers, 40-64% in tomatoes, 46-65% in kale and 42-63% in lettuce.

Salt stress is a vital environmental stress that severely limits plant growth and productivity. Prohexadione-calcium (Pro-Ca) has been extensively studied to regulate plant growth, development, and stress responses. However, the constructive role of Pro-Ca in alleviating damages and enhancing rice tillers' morph-physiological characteristics under salt stress remains largely unknown.
