Objective: Volume status assessment of a patient by ultrasound (US) imaging of the inferior vena cava (IVC) is important for the diagnosis and prognosis of various clinical conditions. In order to improve the clinical investigation of IVC, which is mainly based on unidirectional US (in M-mode), automated processing of 2-D US scans (in B-mode) has enabled tissue movement tracking on the visualized plane and can average this in various directions. However, IVC geometry outside of the visualized plane is not under control and could result in errors that have not yet been evaluated.

Objective: To investigate the accuracy and reproducibility of diaphragmatic excursion (DE) measurements through hepato-renal/spleno-renal section as a novel method for assessing diaphragmatic function.
Methods: Twelve healthy participants were recruited. Each participant underwent DE measurements performed by four operators with varying levels of experience using traditional methods (liver/spleen section) and novel methods (hepato-renal/spleno-renal section), respectively.

Background: Myocardial diastolic function assessment in children by conventional echocardiography is challenging. High-frame rate echocardiography facilitates the assessment of myocardial stiffness, a key factor in diastolic function, by measuring the propagation velocities of myocardial shear waves (SWs). However, normal values of natural SWs in children are currently lacking.

The Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) is commonly utilized to evaluate fluid status in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU),with more recent emphasis on the study of venous congestion. It is predominantly measured via subcostal approach (SC) or trans-hepatic (TH) views, and automated border tracking (ABT) software has been introduced to facilitate its assessment. Prospective observational study on patients ventilated in pressure support ventilation (PSV) with 2 × 2 factorial design.
