Leukemia is a prevalent cancer that severely affects children, and standard chemotherapy often leads to severe gastrointestinal symptoms and neutropenia. This study aimed to discover alternative treatments to prevent neutropenia in pediatric leukemia patients and minimize chemotherapy-related complications. Administering medication precisely to the inflamed intestinal sites to treat ulcerative colitis (UC), with minimized side effects, is of urgent need. In UC, the inflammation damaged mucosa contains a large number of amino groups which are positively charged, providing new opportunities for drug delivery system design. Here, we report an oral drug delivery system utilizing the tacrolimus-loaded poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (TAC/PLGA) particles with an adhesion coating by in situ UV-triggered polymerization of polyacrylic acid and N-hydroxysuccinimide (PAA-NHS).

The current study aimed to assess the preventive effects of aqueous leaf extract of Pistacia lentiscus (ALEPL) against Oxaliplatin (OXA)-induced DNA damage, hepatic injury, and oxidative stress. The in vitro cytotoxic and genotoxic effects of OXA and ALEPL on HCT116 colon cancer cells were evaluated using the MTT (Tetrazolium salt reduction) assay and comet assay. The in vivo study involved 24 female NMRI (Naval Medical Research Institute) mice that were equally divided into four groups as follows: Control group, ALEPL-treated group (100 mg/kg), OXA-treated group (7 mg/kg), and ALEPL-treated group (100mg/kg) + OXA (7mg/kg).

Spinal cord injury (SCI) causes abnormal liver function, the development of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease features and metabolic impairment in patients. Experimental models also demonstrate acute and chronic changes in the liver that may, in turn, affect SCI recovery. These changes have collectively been proposed to contribute to the development of a SCI-induced metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH).

Ultrasound is a first-line and often preferred imaging modality in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis. When the appendix is not visualised during a dedicated appendix ultrasound study, patients may require a CT study, which uses ionising radiation, or undergo conservative clinical observation with the inherent risk of clinical deterioration, perforation and sepsis. Median baseline data, at our hospital imaging department, revealed a rate of combined normal and abnormal appendix visualisation of 34.
