Chronic treatment with dapsone (DDS) has been linked to adverse reactions involving all organ systems, such as dapsone hypersensitivity syndrome, methemoglobinemia and hemolytic anemia, besides neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration due to iron accumulation and oxidative stress. These effects probably occur due to the presence of its toxic metabolite DDS-NOH, which can generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) and iron overload. In this sense, antioxidant compounds with chelating properties, such as alpha-lipoic acid (ALA), may be an interesting adjuvant therapy strategy in treating or preventing these effects.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the molecular sensitization patterns of cats, dogs, and horses in patients with cat and/or dog sensitization and the IgE cross-reactivity with other furry animals.
Methods: In 95 patients diagnosed with allergic diseases and sensitized to cats and/or dogs (confirmed by specific Immunoglobulin E (sIgE) ≥ 0.35 kU/L to crude cat and/or dog dander extracts), sIgE levels of cat components (Fel d 1/2/4), dog components (Can f 1/2/3/5), horse dander (Equ c 1), as well as allergens from cow, guinea pig, mouse, rat, rabbit, and chicken, were measured.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) patients exhibit significant blood transcriptome alterations, reflecting systemic inflammation. The effects of abrocitinib, a Janus kinase 1 inhibitor, on the blood transcriptome of AD remain unclear. This study aim to investigate abrocitinib's effects on the blood transcriptome in AD patients and identify transcriptomic predictors of treatment efficacy.
