Necroptosis is a regulated form of cell death implicated in several pathological conditions, including viral infections. In this study, we investigated the expression and correlation of necroptosis markers MLKL, RIP1 and RIP3 in human liver tissue from fatal cases of yellow fever (YF) using immunohistochemistry (IHC). The liver samples were obtained from 21 YF-positive individuals and five flavivirus-negative controls with preserved liver parenchymal architecture.

Over the past two decades, rapid advancements in magnetic resonance technology have significantly enhanced the imaging resolution of functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), far surpassing its initial capabilities. Beyond mapping brain functional architecture at unprecedented scales, high-spatial-resolution acquisitions have also inspired and enabled several novel analytical strategies that can potentially improve the sensitivity and neuronal specificity of fMRI. With small voxels, one can sample from different levels of the vascular hierarchy within the cerebral cortex and resolve the temporal progression of hemodynamic changes from parenchymal to pial vessels.

Despite the long history of experimental trials to combat schistosomiasis, it remains a significant burden due to drug resistance and the effectiveness of the standard treatment only against the mature stage, while skipping other early developmental stages thus leading to severe permanent pathological sequelae. Therefore, repurposing a commonly used well-known safe drug would be a wise alternative. We investigated the potential anti-schistosomal drug activity of Daflon® (DAF) against different schistosomal developmental stages.
