Sepsis, an extreme host response to systemic infection, remains one of the leading causes of mortality worldwide. Platelets, which are integral to both thrombosis and inflammation, play a crucial role in the pathophysiology of sepsis. Excessive platelet activation and aggregation significantly increase the risk of thrombosis, thereby elevating mortality in septic patients.

In a case of contrast media-induced anaphylactic shock managed with epinephrine, a 57-year-old male developed lactic acidosis without cardiogenic shock or global hypoperfusion, highlighting epinephrine's potential to trigger lactic acidosis. Despite previous management of similar reactions with antihistamines and corticosteroids, this case required intensive care unit admission and emergency intervention, with lactate levels peaking alarmingly. The rapid resolution of acidosis following epinephrine discontinuation underscores the need for careful monitoring and the consideration of alternative vasopressor strategies in severe anaphylaxis, illustrating the complex relationship between epinephrine's metabolic effects and anaphylaxis-induced tissue hypoperfusion.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is associated with a poor prognosis. Our previous study demonstrated that Pleomorphic adenoma gene like-2 (PLAGL2) was a potential therapeutic target in HCC. However, the mechanisms that lead to the upregulation of PLAGL2 in HCC remain unclear.

Introduction: Kinetics of stress-related biological parameters were determined in acute coronary syndrome (ACS) patients undergoing complex cardiovascular rehabilitation.
Methods: We determined platelet functionality in the absence/presence of a selective alpha-2 adrenergic receptor inhibitor, atipemazole parallel with salivary cortisol levels at enrolment, and at 3- and 12-months follow-up in 75 ACS patients with percutaneous coronary intervention.
Results: Pharmacological/non-pharmacological secondary prevention methods have been efficiently applied.

Luteolin inhibits platelet activation and thrombus formation, but the mechanisms are unclear. This study investigated the effects of luteolin on GPVI-mediated platelet activation and explored the effect of luteolin on thrombosis, coagulation, and platelet production . Washed human platelets were used for aggregation, membrane protein expression, ATP, Ca, and LDH release, platelet adhesion/spreading, and clot retraction experiments.
