Background: The basolateral complex of the amygdala is a crucial neurobiological site for Pavlovian conditioning. Investigations into volumetric alterations of the basolateral amygdala in individuals with major depressive disorder (MDD) have yielded conflicting results. These may be reconciled in an inverted U-shape allostatic growth trajectory.

Introduction: Psychotic depression (PD) is a highly debilitating disorder characterized by hallucinations and/or delusions accompanied by depression. A variety of neurotransmitters, hormones and corresponding receptors in the endocrine system are involved in the onset and progression of depression, and fasting blood glucose (FBG) can be an important indicator for monitoring the stability of the endocrine system. The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between FBG and PD in a Chinese population with first-episode drug-naïve (FEDN) major depressive disorder (MDD).

Background: Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), and Adjustment Disorder (AdjD) are highly prevalent among military personnel, often presenting diagnostic challenges due to overlapping symptoms and reliance on self-reporting. The amygdala, particularly the basolateral complex involved in fear-related memory formation and extinction recall, plays a crucial role in emotional processing. Abnormalities in these amygdala nuclei are implicated in PTSD and may distinguish it from other disorders like MDD and AdjD, where these mechanisms are less central.

Numerous factors, including age chronic disease, level of education, and depression, affect the health and function of skeletal muscles. However, it is still unclear which factors affect skeletal muscle health in older age groups across age range segments. Decision tree and logistic regression models were employed in this study to examine the factors that influence older adults' likelihood of developing sarcopenia.
