Superficial arteriovenous malformations are rare fast-flow lesions. They consist of arteriovenous shunts, without cellular hyperplasia or proliferation, which develop in the surrounding tissues (cutaneous, subcutaneous, muscular, bone). Although benign, they are among the most severe of superficial malformations.

Background: Chemotherapy is a well-established therapeutic approach for several malignancies, including breast cancer (BCa). However, the clinical efficacy of this drug is limited by cardiotoxicity. Assessing multiple cardiac biomarkers can help identify patients at risk of adverse outcomes from chemotherapy.

Institute for Experimental and Translational Cardiovascular Imaging, DZHK Centre for Cardiovascular Imaging, Goethe University Frankfurt, Frankfurt am Main, Germany.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the subclinical patterns and evolution of cardiac abnormalities via transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) in patients with mild initial COVID-19 illness. A total of 343 infected individuals (163 males; age 44 (interquartile range, IQR 35-52) years) years) underwent serial TTE assessments at a median of 109 (interquartile range (IQR), 77-177) and 327 (276-379) days after infection. Compared with those of non-COVID-19-infected controls (n = 94, male n = 49), baseline systolic (LVEF, TAPSE) and diastolic function (e', a', E/e') were significantly different in infected participants (p < 0.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess left atrial (LA) size in healthy cats using cardiovascular MRI (cMRI) and to compare this with LA size assessed by two-dimensional echocardiography. The hypothesis was that cMRI would accurately determine LA size in domestic cats.

Methods: A prospective comparative study was performed.

Research in aging often refers to animal models, particularly C57BL/6J (B6J) mice, considered gold standard. However, B6J mice are distributed by different suppliers, which results in divers substrains exhibiting notable phenotypic differences. To ensure a suitable phenotype of cardiac aging, we performed heart analyses of young (5 months) and old B6J mice (24 months) from two substrains: B6JRj (Janvier) and B6JCrl mice (Charles River).
