Supervillin (SVIL), the biggest member of the villin/gelsolin superfamily, has recently been reported to promote the metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma by stimulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). However, little is known about the roles of SVIL in the migration of colorectal cancer cells. Here, we investigated the effects of SVIL on the migration of cisplatin-resistant colorectal cancer cells.

Malignant tumors have been a serious threat to human health with their increasing incidence. Difficulties with conventional treatments are toxicity, drug resistance, and recurrence. For this reason, non-invasive treatment modalities such as photothermal therapy (PTT), photodynamic therapy (PDT), chemodynamic therapy (CDT), and others have received much attention.

Diabetes is a pandemic disease that causes the loss of control of glucose regulation in the organism, in consequence of dysfunction of insulin production or functionality. In this work, the antidiabetic bioactivity of 182 fractions from 19 cyanobacteria strains derived from the LEGE Culture Collection were analysed using the 2-NBDG assay in zebrafish larvae. From this initial screening, two fractions (57 (06104_D) and 107 (03283_B)) were identified as promising insulin mimetics.

One of the primary reasons for the failure of therapy in nasopharyngeal cancer (NPC) is radio resistance-related localized one, which may lead to tumor residuals or recurrences. Several studies have linked interleukin-10 (IL-10) to crucial functions in cancer development and response to therapy. Its function in NPC's radio resistance is, however, not well understood.

Background: One key feature that distinguishes cancerous cell populations from their normal counterparts is a heightened tendency towards uncontrolled growth and invasive activity. Therapeutic techniques like radiotherapy can impact the viability and invasive behavior of cancer cells by modifying the structure of DNA and inducing programmed cell death.
Methods: This research is an experimental study and involved a comprehensive investigation into the effects of 6MV X-ray radiotherapy on various absorbed doses (ranging from 4 to 10 Gy by steps 2Gy) on toxicity, migration, and colony formation in C6 glioblastoma cellular cultures.
