Hydrogen sulfide (HS) is an endogenous gasotransmitter with cardioprotective and antiviral effects. In this work, new cysteine-selective nucleoside-HS-donor hybrid molecules were prepared by conjugating nucleoside biomolecules with a thiol-activatable dithioacetyl group. 5'-Dithioacetate derivatives were synthesized from the canonical nucleosides (uridine, adenosine, cytidine, guanosine and thymidine), and the putative 5'-thio metabolites were also produced from uridine and adenosine.

Hibernation and torpor are not passive responses caused by external temperature drops and fasting but are active brain functions that lower body temperature. A population of neurons in the preoptic area was recently identified as such active torpor-regulating neurons. We hypothesized that the other hypothermia-inducing maneuvers would also activate these neurons.

Background: The concept of a Quality marker (Q-marker) has emerged as a crucial tool for ensuring the safety and efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) formulas. However, significant challenges remained in the identification and practical application of Q-marker, particularly due to the scarcity of reference standards.

Purpose: This study aimed to achieve a multidimensional integration of chemical profiling, target tissue distribution and in vivo high-throughput screening model to effectively identify the Q-marker of Shensong Yangxin Capsule (SSYX) and propose a linear substitution strategy for the quantification of multiple components.

Hakai protein (CBLL1 gene) was identified as an E3 ubiquitin ligase of E-cadherin complex, inducing its ubiquitination and degradation, thus inducing epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition. Most of the knowledge about the protein was associated to its E3 ubiquitin ligase canonical role. However, important recent published research has highlighted the noncanonical role of Hakai, independent of its E3 ubiquitin ligase activity, underscoring its involvement in the N-methyladenosine (mA) writer complex and its impact on the methylation of RNA.
