Model organisms are vital for biomedical research and drug testing but face high costs, complexity, and ethical issues. While newer techniques like organoids and assembloids have shown improvements, they still remain inadequate in addressing all research needs. In this study, we present a new method for maintaining the prostate gland of the earthworm, Eudrilus eugeniae ex vivo and examine its potential for regeneration and drug screening.

Gamma oscillations are essential for brain communication. The 40 Hz neural oscillation deficits in schizophrenia impair left frontotemporal connectivity and information communication, causing auditory hallucinations. Transcranial alternating current stimulation is thought to enhance connectivity between different brain regions by modulating brain oscillations.

This letter commends the recent innovative research findings on "Dual-Action Antifungal Peptide Nanozymes: A Novel Approach to Combatting Antimicrobial Resistance." The study introduces a pioneering method to address antimicrobial resistance by developing peptide nanozymes that mimic antimicrobial peptides and enzymes through de novo design and peptide assembly. The heptapeptide IHIHICI, designed using AlphaFold2 and molecular dynamics simulations, exhibits high stability and dual antifungal actions, effectively killing over 90% of Candida albicans within 10 min.

A cost-effective strategy is reported utilizing ionic liquid (IL), 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium bisulfate ([HMIM] HSO), to delaminate TiC MXene, thereby enhancing its efficiency in electrocatalyzing tryptophan (Trp) oxidation. The positively charged IL effectively intercalates within the negatively charged MXene layers, fostering structural stability through π-π stacking and electrostatic interactions. Consequently, the resulting IL-TiC composite not only maintained the inherent electronic conductivity of TiC but also significantly augmented its electrocatalytic prowess.
