Superficial lesions of the face are often treated with an electron beam and surface collimation utilizing a conformal lead shield with an opening around the region of treatment (ROT). To fabricate the lead shield, an imprint of the patient face is needed. Historically, this was achieved using a laborious and time-consuming process that involved a gypsum imprinted model (GIM) of the patient topography.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), and Verbal Rating Scale (VRS). Additionally, the study aimed to determine NRS threshold values for both mild analgesic administration (= without risk of nausea and vomiting [NV] side effects) and strong analgesic administration (= with risk of NV side effects) in the postanaesthetic care unit (PACU).
Design: Prospective, observational study design.

Serological studies uniquely strengthen infectious disease surveillance, expanding prevalence estimates to encompass asymptomatic infections, and revealing the otherwise inapparent landscape of immunity, including who is and is not susceptible to infection. They are thus a powerful complement to often incomplete epidemiological and public health measures (administrative measures of vaccination coverage, incidence estimates, etc.).

Peatlands are significant global carbon sinks; however, their carbon storage functions are vulnerable to human activities. In the Greater Khingan Mountains of Northeast China, where forest and peatland ecosystems are interspersed extensively, prescribed burning is conducted annually on peatlands to prevent major forest fires. To investigate the effect of prescribed burning on carbon and nutrient cycling processes in peatlands, we conducted a three-year experiment in the Greater Khingan Mountains.
