The process of selection of target points during voluntary eye movements when contoured polygonal shapes with open and closed angles are observed was analysed in humans by means of an eye recording technique. It has been found for both types of stimuli that the majority of fixation points where located at angles and that the mean value of distribution was found to be more distant from the vertex for acute angles than for obtuse ones. In this respect a difference was found between open and closed contours. In the former case the mean values of fixation point distribution were more distant from the vertex and the dispersion of eye fixation was greater.

Purpose: Management of the elderly patients presenting with open lower limb fractures is challenging due to physiological changes and pre-existing co-morbidities. The aim of this study was to assess the compliance with the British Orthopaedic Association's Standards for Trauma Number 4 (BOAST 4) guidelines in this patient group.
Methods: The study included a retrospective analysis of all the patients aged > 65 years old admitted with open lower limb fracture between 2017 and 2019 to a major trauma centre (MTC) in East of England.

Introduction And Significance: Zenker's diverticulum is a rare condition characterized by a false diverticulum, as a true diverticulum involves herniation of all wall layers outward. Dysphagia, difficulty in swallowing, is the most common symptom. Diagnosis is primarily made through X-ray studies using contrast material during swallowing.

Complex experimental protocols often require multi-modal data acquisition with precisely aligned timing, as well as state- and behavior-dependent interventions. Tailored solutions are mostly restricted to individual experimental setups and lack flexibility and interoperability. We present an open-source, Linux-based integrated software solution, called 'Syntalos', for simultaneous acquisition and synchronization of data from an arbitrary number of sources, including multi-channel electrophysiological recordings and different live imaging devices, as well as closed-loop, real-time interventions with different actuators.

Undesirable loss of open-circuit voltage and current of metal halide perovskite (MHP) solar cells are closely associated with defects, so theoretical calculations have been often performed to scrutinize the nature of defects in bulk of MHPs. Yet, exploring the properties of defects at surfaces of MHPs is severely lacking given the complexity of the surface defects with high concentrations. In this study, IPb (PbI) antisite defects, namely one Pb (I) site being occupied by one I (Pb) atom at the surfaces of the FAPbI3 (FA = CH(NH2)2) material, are found to create electron (hole) traps when the surfaces with IPb (PbI) antisite defects are negatively (positively) charged.

Early events in the reprogramming of fibroblasts to cardiac muscle cells are unclear. While various histone undergo modification and re-positioning, and these correlate with the activity of certain genes, it is unknown if these events are causal or happen in response to reprogramming. Histone modification and re-positioning would be expected to open up chromatin on lineage-specific genes and this can be ascertained by studying nucleosome architecture.
