Cold‑inducible RNA‑binding protein (CIRP) is a cold shock protein implicated in the regulation of multiple biological processes depending on its cellular localization. However, to the best of our knowledge, the role of CIRP in liver regeneration and injury after hepatectomy has not been investigated. The present study was therefore designed to explore whether CIRP is involved in liver regeneration after hepatectomy and its specific role and underlying molecular mechanism.

Berardinelli-Seip congenital lipodystrophy (BSCL), also known as congenital generalized lipodystrophy (CGL), is an exceptionally rare autosomal recessive disorder marked by a significant deficiency of adipose tissue throughout the body. This lack of adipose tissue, normally found beneath the skin and between internal organs, leads to impaired adipocyte formation and fat storage, causing lipids to accumulate in atypical tissues such as muscles and the liver. The extent of adipose tissue loss directly influences the severity of symptoms, which can include a muscular appearance, increased appetite, bone cysts, marrow fat depletion, acromegalic features, severe insulin resistance, skeletal muscle hypertrophy, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hepatic steatosis, hepatomegaly, cirrhosis, and intellectual disability.

Background: Obesity in midlife, body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m or higher, is recognized as a contributor to Alzheimer disease (AD) later in life. Adiposity in visceral tissues such as liver is associated with increased systemic inflammation and impaired cognition. In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship between MRI-derived Positron Density Fat Fraction (PDFF) and brain histology and neuroinflammation using Diffusion Basis Spectrum Imaging (DBSI) in cognitively normal midlife individuals.

Background: Obesity in midlife, defined as body mass index (BMI) of 30 kg/m or higher in those between 40-60 years, is related to higher Alzheimer's disease (AD) later in life. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, as a complication of obesity is associated with impaired cognitive function. We investigated the relationship between hepatic fat quantification by use of MRI-derived Positron Density Fat Fraction (PDFF) and brain cortical thickness in cognitively normal midlife individuals.
