Article Abstract

The dependence of amplitudes and peak latencies of the light-induced fast EOG oscillation was studied using rectangular light stimulation. A linear increase of the amplitude was observed in the intensity range tested (24-3,000 asb). No influence of the time of preadaptation to darkness on the amplitudes could be proven in a range of 20 s to 21 min. The peak latency was not dependent on light intensity. Prolonged peak latencies were observed following short and long periods of dark adaptation.

We present a case report of a 42-year-old female with post-West Nile virus meningoencephalitis who exhibited unique, long-latency diaphragm potentials evoked by transcranial and cervical magnetic stimulation after exposure to acute intermittent hypoxia (AIH). The subject was recruited for a study investigating AIH effects on respiratory motor function in healthy individuals. She had contracted West Nile virus infection 5 years before assessment that resulted in hospitalization and persistent allodynia but was not reported to the research team.

Purpose: The present study examined masseteric vestibular evoked myogenic potential (mVEMP) responses in children and compared these results with those of adults, using both air- and bone-conduction modes of stimulation.

Method: Fifteen children and fifteen adults with hearing thresholds below 15 dB HL were considered for the study. Ipsilateral 500-Hz narrow-band chirp (NB CE-chirp) evoked mVEMP responses were elicited via a zygomatic montage through both air- and bone-conduction modes of stimulation.

Objectives: Due to the absence of objective diagnostic criteria, tinnitus diagnosis primarily relies on subjective assessments. However, its neuropathological features can be objectively quantified using electroencephalography (EEG). Despite the existing research, the pathophysiology of tinnitus remains unclear.

Background: Pleural mesothelioma is mainly caused by (occupational) asbestos exposure. Since 1990, the import and use of asbestos is prohibited in Switzerland. However, due to the long latency time between exposure and the development of disease, incidence in Switzerland was expected to further increase for years after the ban.

Sleep Psychosomatic Medicine Center, Taihe Hospital of Shiyan City, Affiliated Hospital of Hubei University of Medicine, Shiyan 442000, Hubei Province, China.

Background: Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) has a high risk of progression to Alzheimer's disease. The disease is often accompanied by sleep disorders, and whether sleep disorders have an effect on brain function in patients with MCI is unclear.

Aim: To explore the near-infrared brain function characteristics of MCI with sleep disorders.
