A series of even numbered normal alkyl ethers (C2-C14) of p-N,N-bis(2-chloroethyl)aminophenol were synthesized and evaluated as to acute toxicity in mice and effects on survival in L-1210 leukemic mice. All of the ether derivatives demonstrated significantly lower acute toxicity than the parent phenol mustard. Significant survival times (greater than or equal to 125%) were obtained with all compounds except the hexyl derivative. The decyl ether produced the greatest significant increase and the ethyl ether the lowest significant increase in mean survival time. Significant survival times were produced at four dosage levels for the butyl, decyl, and dodecyl derivatives, three dosage levels for the octyl and tetradecyl derivatives, and one dosage level for the ethyl derivative.

High-density lipoprotein nanoparticles spontaneously target to damaged renal tubules and alleviate renal fibrosis by remodeling the fibrotic niches.

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) ultimately causes renal fibrosis and end-stage renal disease, thus seriously threatens human health. However, current medications for CKD and fibrosis are inefficient, which is often due to poor targeting capability to renal tubule. In this study, we discover that biomimetic high-density lipoprotein (bHDL) lipid nanoparticles possess excellent targeting ability to injured tubular epithelial cells by kidney injury molecule-1(KIM-1) mediated internalization.

Electrochemical oxidative cross-dehydrogenative-coupling (CDC) is an ideal strategy to conduct the C3-alkoxylation of imidazo[1,2-]pyridine, but it remains a challenge owing to limitation imposed by the use of alkyl alcohols and carboxylic acids. Herein, we report a mild and efficient 2-electrode constant-potential electrolysis of imidazo[1,2-]pyridine with hexafluoroisopropanol (HFIP) to produce various imidazo[1,2-]pyridine HFIP ethers. Mechanistic studies indicated that the electrooxidation reaction might involve radical coupling and ionic reaction.

Sulfate and sulfonate compounds are extensively used as anionic surfactants in personal care products (PCPs), which might pose adverse potential to human health. However, available research mostly identified certain subsets of sulfated and sulfonated surfactants based on target analysis. In this study, we developed a comprehensive nontarget strategy for identification of sulfated and sulfonated surfactants in PCPs using UHPLCHRMS supplemented by an in-lab R script based on characteristic fragment ions and sulfur isotope patterns.

Surfactants play a crucial role in various industrial applications, including detergents and personal care products. However, their widespread use raises concerns due to their potential environmental impact and health risks, particularly in aquatic ecosystems, where they can disrupt the balance of marine life and accumulate in water sources, posing challenges to sustainable development. This study investigates the environmental and health implications of anionic and nonionic surfactants, focusing on their toxicity, biodegradation, and skin irritation potential profiles, especially when combined with silica nanoparticles.

We report the development and optimization of a scalable flow process for metallaphotoredox (Ir/Ni) C-O coupling, a mild and efficient approach for forming alkyl-aryl ethers, a common motif in medicinal and process chemistry settings. Time-resolved infrared spectroscopy (TRIR) highlighted the amine as the major quencher of the photocatalyst triplet excited state, along with the formation of an Ir(II) species that, in the presence of the Ni cocatalyst, has its lifetime shortened, suggesting reductive quenching of Ir(III)*, followed by reoxidation facilitated by the Ni cocatalyst. TRIR and batch reaction screening was used to develop conditions transferrable to flow, and many processing benefits of performing the reaction in flow were then demonstrated using a simple to construct/operate, small-footprint FEP coil flow reactor, including short (<10 min) space times and reduced catalyst loadings (down to 0.
