Sleep is a vital biological function that significantly influences overall health. While sleep deprivation (SD) and circadian rhythm disruption are known to negatively impact various organs, their specific effects on kidney function remain understudied. This study aimed to investigate the impact of chronic partial sleep deprivation and circadian rhythm disruption on renal function in rats, providing insights into the relationship between sleep disturbances and kidney health.

Background: Epidemiologic researches show that short sleep duration may affect feeding behaviors resulting in higher energy intake and increased risk of obesity, but the further mechanisms that can interpret the causality remain unclear. The circadian rhythm is fine-tuned by the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) as the master clock, which is essential for driving rhythms in food intake and energy metabolism through neuronal projections to the arcuate nucleus (ARC) and paraventricular nucleus (PVN).
Results: We showed that chronic SD-induced aberrant expressions of AgRP/NPY and POMC attributed to compromised JAK/STAT3 signals and reduced energy expenditure in the mice, which can be rescued with AAV-genetic overexpression of BMAL1 into SCN.

Introduction Existing research has established that some people struggle with prescription charges. This paper reports on the experiences of a sub-sample of people who participated in the FreeMeds study (a randomised controlled trial of prescription charges) about their problems paying for medicines. Aim The aim of this study was to explore participants' previous experiences with paying for medicines, and the impact of receiving free medicines through the Free Meds study.

Objectives: To investigate the impact of acute energetic stress (acute HIIE and fasting) on , , , , and in human skeletal muscle.
Methods: The current study performed secondary analyses using muscle biopsy samples from two previously published studies: study 1) leg muscle biopsies from nine men and eight women were obtained pre and 3 h following acute high-intensity interval cycling exercise (HIIE); study 2) leg muscle biopsies were obtained from nine men pre-, during, and post-an 8 h fast with or without 2 h of arm ergometer exercise. RT-PCR was performed on samples from each study to determine the mRNA expression of , , , , and .

Admission to university influences lifestyle behaviors and is marked by a daily routine of accumulation of activities that can interfere with sleep duration, affecting food choices and meal consumption habits throughout the day. To analyze the association between short sleep duration and skipping main meals among university students. We conducted a cross-sectional study with 1,608 university students aged between 16 and 25 years, who were enrolled in full-time undergraduate courses at a public university in the Midwestern region of Brazil.
