Developmental biologists can perform studies that describe a phenomenon (descriptive work) and/or explain how the phenomenon works (mechanistic work). There is a prevalent perception that molecular/genetic explanations achieved via perturbations of gene function are the primary means of advancing mechanistic knowledge. We believe this to be a limited perspective, one that does not effectively represent the breadth of work in our field.

The human body is an intricate system, where diverse and complex signaling among different organs sustains physiological activities. The eye, as a primary organ for information acquisition, not only plays a crucial role in visual perception but also, as increasing evidence suggests, exerts a broad influence on the entire body through complex circuits upon receiving light signals which is called non-image-forming vision. However, the extent and mechanisms of light's impact on the body through the eyes remain insufficiently explored.

Background: Extended-duration exposure therapy, in which treatment is delivered over a single prolonged session or cluster of long-duration sessions, is a highly efficacious and efficient treatment for anxiety disorders such as specific phobias. Despite this, little is known about the use of extended-duration exposure therapy in clinical practice.
Methods: In the present study we investigated the perceptions and use of extended-duration exposure therapy amongst a sample of Australian psychologists via a survey, and the Therapist Beliefs about Exposure Scale.

A recent study conducted by Hu et al. has provided novel insights into the perception of strigolactone (SL). These findings offer a comprehensive understanding of activation, termination, and regulation mechanisms involved in SL perception, all of which are crucial for the adaptation of plant architecture to fluctuations in nitrogen availability.

Objective: To map evidence on the characteristics, effectiveness, and potential mechanisms of motor imagery interventions targeting cognitive function and depression in adults with neurological disorders and/or mobility impairments.
Data Sources: Six English databases (The Cochrane Library, PubMed, Embase, Scopus, Web of Sciences, and PsycINFO), two Chinese databases (CNKI and WanFang), and a gray literature database were searched from inception to December 2024.
Review Methods: This scoping review followed the Joanna Briggs Institute Scoping Review methodology.
