The importance of the air contamination, when open blood culture systems were used, was emphasized by investigation series in 20 test persons. The proportion of contaminated cultures correlated with the opening time and the size of the opening area of the culture systems applied. The moist cleaning of the room performed before the taking of the blood culture and low numbers of patients in the rooms clearly improved the portion of contamination.

Antibiotic resistance genes (ARG) pollution in poultry farming environments has become increasingly critical, primarily driven by the widespread use of antibiotics in animal husbandry. Prolonged antibiotic use has led to the emergence of ARGs and antibiotic-resistant bacteria, spreading via horizontal and vertical gene transfer. The complexity of ARG pollution in poultry farming arises from the unique farming practices, physiological characteristics of poultry, and manure management methods, with manure, wastewater, and air serving as significant vectors for ARG dissemination.

Recently, the misuse of fentanyl and methamphetamine has increased in the United States. These drugs can be consumed via smoking a powder, which can subsequently contaminate air and surfaces with drug residue. With limited access to safe consumption sites, this misuse often occurs in public spaces such as public transit, leading to potential secondhand exposures among transit operators and riders.

Perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) is an anthropogenic chemical found in aqueous film-forming foams (AFFFs) and many consumer products. Despite its environmental ubiquity and persistence, little is known about the effects of PFOS on stress levels in wild animals. Here, we examined PFOS bioaccumulation and correlations between PFOS exposure and oxidative stress in snapping turtles (Chelydra serpentina) downstream of Griffiss Air Force Base in Rome, New York, a known source of AFFF contamination.

Bioaugmented slurry technology is a sustainable remediation technology for PAHs-contaminated soil. However, the lack of experimental data on the remediation of complex, actual contaminated soils has hindered the practical application of this technology. This study explored the bioaugmented degradation of PAHs using actual soil slurry with and without the addition of microbial agents in the microscopic world.
