Ruthenium dioxide (RuO2) is a benchmark electrocatalyst for proton exchange membrane water electrolyzers (PEMWE), but its stability during the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is often compromised by lattice oxygen involvement and metal dissolution. Despite that the typical synthesis of RuO2 produces chloride residues, the underlying function of chloride have not well investigated. In this study, we synthesized chlorine-containing RuO2 (RuO2-Cl) and pure RuO2 catalysts with similar morphology and crystallinity.

Platinum-coated Janus colloids exhibit self-propelled motion in aqueous solution via the catalytic decomposition of hydrogen peroxide. Here, we report their motion in a uniformly aligned nematic phase of lyotropic chromonic liquid crystal, disodium cromoglycate (DSCG). When active Janus colloids are placed in DSCG, we find that the anisotropy of the liquid crystal imposes a strong sense of direction to their motion; the Janus colloids tend to move parallel to the nematic director.

Multicomponent Gas Sensing Fiber Probe System Based on Platinum Coated Capillary Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy.

ACS Sens

September 2024

National Engineering Research Center of Fiber Optic Sensing Technology and Networks, Wuhan University of Technology, Wuhan 430070, China.

This paper proposes a novel multicomponent gas-sensing optical fiber probe system. It utilizes a precisely engineered Platinum-coated capillary fabricated via Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) technology as the core for enhanced Raman spectroscopy, marking the first application of ALD in creating such a structure for gas Raman sensing. The noble metal capillary gas Raman probe demonstrates a low detection limit of 55 ppm for CO with a 30 s exposure time and good repeatability in multicomponent gas sensing.

August 2024

The State Key Lab of Silkworm Genome Biology, College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Southwest University, Chongqing 400715, China. Electronic address:

Background: Pathogenic bacteria are keeping threatening global public health since they can cause many infectious diseases. The traditional microorganism identification and molecular diagnostic techniques are insufficiently sensitive, time-consuming, or expensive. Thus it is of great interest to establish pressure signal-based sensing platforms for point-of-care testing of pathogenic bacteria to achieve timely diagnosis of infectious diseases.
