The concentration of S is a vital environmental indicator for evaluating the quality of source water, surface water, and wastewater, and it has a significant impact on biological systems, particularly human health. Therefore, it is crucial to detect S selectively and sensitively. In this study, we developed a simple and rapid one-pot method to prepare a gold nanocluster (BSA-AuNCs) probe for fluorescence-enhanced detection of S toxemia and analyzed the morphological characteristics of BSA-AuNCs and its complex with S using various characterization techniques.

This study employed large eddy simulation (LES) with the wall-adapting local eddy-viscosity (WALE) model to investigate transitional flow characteristics in an idealized model of a healthy thoracic aorta. The OpenFOAM solver pimpleFoam was used to simulate blood flow as an incompressible Newtonian fluid, with the aortic walls treated as rigid boundaries. Simulations were conducted for 30 cardiac cycles and ensemble averaging was employed to ensure statistically reliable results.

In this study, we aimed to explore the feasibility of utilizing polypropylene (PP) and natural rubber (NR) blends as alternative materials for rubber dam clamps in dentistry. The hardness of various PP/NR blend ratios was compared to the commercial product SoftClamp. Selected blend ratios exhibiting hardness values resembling rigid plastic were further evaluated for hardness and tensile strength after undergoing 1, 5, and 10 autoclave cycles.

The range of sensor technologies for structural health monitoring (SHM) systems is expanding as the need for ongoing structural monitoring increases. In such a case, damage to the monitored structure elements is detected using an integrated network of sensors operating in real-time or periodically in frequent time stamps. This paper briefly introduces a new type of sensor, called a Customized Crack Propagation Sensor (CCPS), which is an alternative for crack gauges, but with enhanced functional features and customizability.

Fluorescence imaging has been widely used in fields like (pre)clinical imaging and other domains. With advancements in imaging technology and new fluorescent labels, fluorescence lifetime imaging is gradually gaining recognition. Our research department is developing the CAM, based on the Current-Assisted Photonic Sampler, to achieve real-time fluorescence lifetime imaging in the NIR (700-900 nm) region.
