Cannabidiol (CBD), a non-psychotropic compound derived from Cannabis sativa, is known for its potential therapeutic effects on central nervous system (CNS) disorders. This study investigates the effects of chronic CBD administration on depressive and cognitive alterations induced by social isolation in male C57BL/6 mice. The experimental design involved adult mice subjected to either group housing or 12 weeks of social isolation.

Cannabidiol (CBD), a small nonpsychoactive molecule derived from , exerts a variety of therapeutic actions, such as anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antibacterial. Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved medicine containing pure CBD as an oral solution for seizure-controlling therapy. Nevertheless, the oral bioavailability of CBD is challenging due to its physical-chemical properties such as low solubility in water and high first-pass metabolism.

Kruppel-like factor 4 (Klf4) is a transcription factor that is involved in neuronal regeneration and the development of glutamatergic systems. However, it is unknown whether Klf4 is involved in acute seizure. To investigate the potential role of Klf4 in pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced seizure, western blotting, immunofluorescence, behaviour test and electrophysiology were conducted in this study.

Most patients use multiple drugs, yet seizures remain difficult to control. So far, no conventional anti-seizure medications have been proven to be effective in individuals with CDD, in well-conducted studies.

Background: Cannabidiol (CBD) is the principal non-hallucinogenic compound of Cannabis plants with high clinical interest because CBD has been described as having anti-inflammatory, analgesic and anticonvulsant properties. CBD is considered a multitarget compound as it can interact with a wide range of targets, explaining their multiplicity of effects. Some clinical studies have indicated certain side effects of CBD, including somnolence, anemia and diarrhea, while the elevation of transaminases is considered as an exclusion criterion from the trial.
