Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly aggressive brain cancer associated with poor survival rates. We developed novel mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSNs)-based nanocarriers for pH-responsive delivery of a therapeutic drug Paclitaxel (PTX) to GBM tumor cells. The pores of MSNs are loaded with PTX, which is retained by β-cyclodextrin (CD) moieties covalently linked to the pore entrances through a hydrazone linkage, which is cleavable in weakly acidic environment.

For decades, studies have shown how exposure to non-essential trace metals such as lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) largely impact global wildlife. Ecoimmunotoxicology has emerged in the past two decades and focuses on the effects of pollutants on the immune system of free-ranging organisms. Adverse outcome pathways (AOPs) represent a conceptual approach to explore the mechanistic linkage between a molecular initiating event and adverse outcomes, potentially at all biological levels of organisation.

Background: The highly industrialized areas characterize the delta coasts of the world, due to the discharging of large quantity of wastewater into the river estuaries. The entrance of phenolic compounds and PAHs into the aquatic environment has not been sufficiently studied on the Egyptian Mediterranean coast. The article examines the content and ecological risks associated with 11 phenolic compounds and 14 PAHs in the bottom sediments of the Nile River estuaries, the largest river systems that discharged into the Mediterranean Sea.

Despite its importance in pathogenesis, the hematogenous dissemination pathway of is still largely uncharacterized. To probe the molecular details of transendothelial migration more easily, we studied this process using cultured primary or telomerase-immortalized human microvascular endothelial cells in a medium that maintains both the human cells and the spirochetes. In -infected monolayers, we observed ~55% of wild-type spirochetes crossing the monolayer.

In diagnostic radiology, entrance surface air kerma (ESAK) is one of the patient radiation dose quantities, and the effective dose is used as an estimator of possible risk for radiation exposure level. Calculation of the ESAK and effective dose requires both X-ray machine parameters and patient exposure parameters. Due to the high performance of smartphones and the increase in mobile applications, this study aimed to develop a mobile application to estimate the ESAK and effective dose in general radiography.
