Carotid body tumors (CBTs), rare neuroendocrine neoplasms near the carotid bifurcation, are mostly asymptomatic but may cause discomfort and autonomic dysfunction. Computed tomography angiography (CTA) is used for diagnosis, eliminating the need for a biopsy to avoid the risk of hemorrhage. Surgical excision is the preferred treatment, while radiotherapy is an option when surgery is impractical.

Including sensor information in medical interventions aims to support surgeons to decide on subsequent action steps by characterizing tissue intraoperatively. With bladder cancer, an important issue is tumor recurrence because of failure to remove the entire tumor. Impedance measurements can help to classify bladder tissue and give the surgeons an indication on how much tissue to remove.

This is the first study to investigate the possible release of microplastic-derived dissolved organic matter (MP-DOM) in water from three major types of bio-based MPs, namely, polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) and PLA-PHA mixtures, under ultraviolet (UV) irradiation conditions. At an initial MP concentration of approximately 5 g per liter, the release of MP-DOM from the studied MPs ranged from 1.55 to 6.

Objectives: Triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a distinct subtype of breast cancer that has a poor prognosis due to the lack of effective therapeutic agents. Since a significant proportion of human surgical samples of TNBC expressed mRNA for the growth hormone (GH), growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), and gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptors, and the mitogenic proliferative activity of GH, GHRH, and GnRH, have been identified as effective therapeutic targets for somatostatin and its analogs and GnRH analogs, Di Bella Method (DBM), a combination of hormonal analogs and vitamins, was introduced to target and inhibit solid tumors. The present study aimed to improve the prognosis of TNBC using DBM in women with TNBC.
