Introduction: The spectrum of eosinophil functions has expanded from fighting helminths to multiple novel roles in malignancy, infection, cancer, and metabolism. In asthma, glucocorticoids, prostaglandins (PG), and cysteinyl-leukotrienes (LT) regulate eosinophil biology through separate signaling pathways. Here we've evaluated the complex interplay between Dexa, PGE2, and CysLTs in eosinopoiesis and eosinophil biology in an allergic asthma model.

Background: Sphingosine-1 phosphate (S1P) is a bioactive lipid molecule that modulates inflammation and hepatic lipid metabolism in MASLD, which affects 1 in 3 people and increases the risk of liver fibrosis and hepatic cancer. S1P can be generated by 2 isoforms of sphingosine kinase (SphK). SphK1 is well-studied in metabolic diseases.

Prostaglandins are naturally occurring local mediators that can participate in the modulation of the cardiovascular system through their interaction with Gs/Gi-coupled receptors in different tissues and cells, including platelets. Thrombin is one of the most important factors that regulates platelet reactivity and coagulation. Clinical trials have consistently shown that omega-3 fatty acid supplementation lowers the risk for cardiovascular mortality and morbidity.

An open reading frame from the actinobacterium Mycolicibacterium smegmatis annotated as a Prostaglandin H Synthase (PGHS) was expressed with an N-terminal (his) tag and purified to homogeneity. The enzyme has a monomeric molecular weight of 68.3 kD and exists as a dimer in the presence of nonionic detergent.

The blastocyst of the European roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) undergoes a period of decelerated growth and limited metabolism. During this period known as embryonic diapause, it floats freely in the uterus encircled by the histotroph. Prior to implantation, reactivation is marked by rapid embryonic growth and conceptus elongation.
