To study the associations of blood proteins with the presence of unstable atherosclerotic plaques in the arteries of patients with coronary atherosclerosis using quantitative proteomics. The studies involved two groups of men with coronary atherosclerosis (group 1 (St) had only stable atherosclerotic plaques; group 2 (Ns) had only unstable atherosclerotic plaques, according to histological analysis of tissue samples); the average age of patients was 57.95 ± 7.

α-1-antichymotrypsin (ACT) is a serine proteinase inhibitor that controls the activity of proteases like chymotrypsin, cathepsin G and mast cell chymase. Familial variants of ACT results in liver and lung diseases, but it is also reported to be associated with several other disease conditions. ACT is mainly synthesized in the liver using four coding exons, namely E1, E2, E3 and E4 encoding a 423 amino acid protein that also includes a 23 amino acid signal peptide.

Background: The state of Aguascalientes, Mexico, has been recognized as a chronic kidney disease hotspot. Screening studies have revealed a high prevalence of persistent albuminuria (pA), histologically characterized by glomerulomegaly, and incomplete podocyte fusion, probably associated with oligonephrony. To date, urinary biomarkers have not been explored in this population.

Foam nests of frogs are natural biosurfactants that contain potential compounds for biocompatible materials, Drug Delivery System (DDS), emulsifiers, and bioremediation. To elucidate the protein components in the foam nests of , which is an endemic Japanese frog species commonly seen during the rainy season, we performed amino acid analysis, SDS-PAGE electrophoresis, and matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization mass spectrometry using intact foam nests. Many proteins were detected in these foam nests, ranging from a few to several hundred kDa, with both essential and non-essential amino acids.
