A double-blind, randomized trial was carried out in 52 patients with infected dermatoses to compare the efficacy and tolerance of two topical antibiotic/steroid combinations in cream formulations, one containing triamcinolone acetonide, neomycin sulphate and undecenoic acid ('Silderm') and the other triamcinolone acetonide, neomycin sulphate, nystatin and gramicidin. Patients applied the cream 3-times daily for 7 days. Assessments carried out before and after treatment showed that the 'Silderm' formulation was the more effective of the two preparations in reducing the extent of lesion, cosmetic disfigurement and irritation, and patients reported a greater improvement in their condition than did those on the other cream. No side-effects were reported in either treatment group.

Background: Infective and noninfective dermatoses of the lower leg and foot can be attributed to factors such as infections, blood stagnation, chemical contact, and abnormal mechanics. These factors make the lower leg and foot more susceptible to microbial infections, contact dermatitis, stasis eczema, ulcers, corns, and calluses.

Objective: To identify the patterns of infective and noninfective dermatoses on the lower leg and foot.

Background: The incidence of diabetic foot infections is increasing due to the rising number of persons with diabetes and the prolonged life expectancy. It is vital to differentiate soft-tissue infection (STI) from diabetic foot osteomyelitis (DFO), as treatment modalities and durations vary widely, but this can be challenging. We aimed to assess the blood concentration levels of the high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB-1) in STI and DFO compared to healthy subjects, and to investigate whether this protein could contribute to differentiating STI from DFO.

Background: LIN28, a highly conserved RNA-binding protein, regulate a wide variety of post-transcriptional cellular processes. The current study aimed to identify genetic variants of five single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the LIN28B gene (rs221634, rs22163, rs314276, rs9404590, and rs12194974) and their association with Breast cancer.

Method: 220 patients and 230 controls were genotyped by the RFLP assay for Lin28B gene variants.

Unlabelled: is an acid-fast, aerobic, non-motile, and biofilm-forming bacterium. The increasing prevalence of mycobacterial infections makes it necessary to find new methods to combat the resistance of bacteria to conventional antibiotics. is an emerging pathogen that is intrinsically drug resistant due to several factors, including an impermeable cell envelope, drug efflux pumps, target-modifying enzymes, and the ability to form thick, robust biofilms.
