The reactivation of reduced lysozyme, whose 6 COOH-terminal amino acid including cysteine 127 were cut off, was studied. The results show that the disulfide bridge I-VIII as well as the COOH-terminal hexapeptide do not play a decisive role in the acquisition of the native 3-dimensional structure of the enzyme.

SoxR containing a [2Fe-2S] cluster required for its transcription activity functions as a bacterial stress-response sensor that is activated through oxidation by redox-active compounds (RACs). SoxR from (EcSoxR) is activated by nearly all RACs nonspecifically. In contrast, nonenteric SoxRs such as (PaSoxR), and (ScSoxR) activate their target genes in response to RAC including endogenously produced metabolites.

We report the development and optimization of a scalable flow process for metallaphotoredox (Ir/Ni) C-O coupling, a mild and efficient approach for forming alkyl-aryl ethers, a common motif in medicinal and process chemistry settings. Time-resolved infrared spectroscopy (TRIR) highlighted the amine as the major quencher of the photocatalyst triplet excited state, along with the formation of an Ir(II) species that, in the presence of the Ni cocatalyst, has its lifetime shortened, suggesting reductive quenching of Ir(III)*, followed by reoxidation facilitated by the Ni cocatalyst. TRIR and batch reaction screening was used to develop conditions transferrable to flow, and many processing benefits of performing the reaction in flow were then demonstrated using a simple to construct/operate, small-footprint FEP coil flow reactor, including short (<10 min) space times and reduced catalyst loadings (down to 0.

Selective catalytic reduction of nitrogen oxides (NO ) by ammonia (NH-SCR) over supported vanadium catalysts is a commercial technology for NO abatement in combustion exhaust. The addition of tungsten oxide (WO) significantly enhances the performance of supported vanadium catalysts (VO/TiO), but the mechanism underlying this enhancement remains controversial. In this study, we employed combined operando spectroscopy (DRIFTS-UV-vis-MS) to investigate the dynamic state of active sites (acid sites and redox sites) on VO-WO/TiO during the NH-SCR reaction.

To elucidate the involvement of glutathione in the mitigation of induced oxidative changes and the sequestration of perceived volatiles in cells, we exposed potato plants to French marigold essential oil. The formation of short-lived radicals, the determination of scavenging activity towards ascorbyl and DPPH radicals, and the assessment of the potato plants' overall intra/extracellular reduction status were performed using electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR). The results showed the presence of hydroxyl radicals in potatoes, with significantly reduced accumulation in exposed plants compared to the control group after 8 h.

Ferrous oxalate (FeCO)-based composite has been recognized as an eminent catalyst for Cr(III)-ethylenediamine tetraacetic acid (Cr(III)-EDTA) decomplexation. However, their practical application has been limited by low cycling capacity and an ambiguous mechanism. In this research, a composite catalyst consisting of biotite loaded with nano FeCO (CFS90) was prepared directly from iron-containing silicate tailing.
