Maternal and fetal serum insulin response to glucose, leucine and leucine plus glucose was examined by infusions to normal pregnant women at term immediately before cesarean section. The maternal infusion of glucose (50 g) for 30 or 60 minutes was associated with a marked hyperglycemia and with a rise in serum insulin in mother and fetus. The fetal insulin response to the administration of glucose for 60 minutes was higher (p less than 0.01) than when the same dose was given for 30 minutes, while the blood glucose was lower (p less than 0.01). The maternal infusion of a smaller dose of glucose (25 g) or leucine (15 g) for 60 minutes produced an increase in serum insulin only in the mothers. However the simultaneous administration of these substances stimulated maternal and fetal insulin secretion. The fetal insulin level produced was similar to that seen after the maternal infusion of 50 g of glucose for 60 minutes, while the cord blood glucose was slightly higher but significantly different (p less than 0.01) than that seen in the saline infused group.

Objective: Unexplained Recurrent Spontaneous Abortion (RSA) impacts the physical and psychological well-being of women of reproductive age. This study aimed to reveal the potential mechanisms behind unexplained RSA from the perspective of glucose and lipid metabolic profiles before conception and their relationship with immune, coagulation, and inflammatory markers.
Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 100 patients with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion at our gynecology department from June 2022 to June 2023.

Aims: We compared changes in insulin pump settings and insulin distribution throughout pregnancy and early postpartum for participants with type 1 diabetes using sensor-augmented pump therapy (SAPT) or hybrid closed-loop (HCL) therapy without a pregnancy-specific glucose target.
Methods: In this investigator-initiated trial 23 participants were randomized at 14-18 weeks gestation to HCL therapy or SAPT until 4-6 weeks postpartum. We compared the changes to insulin pump settings and insulin delivery between groups using mixed-effects models.
Hypopituitarism is the inability of the anterior pituitary gland to properly supply the hormone levels. When this disease affects all the hormones produced by the anterior pituitary, it is called panhypopituitarism (PHP). Since pituitary-derived hormones directly influence fertility, often the assisted reproduction techniques are the only option to PHP women have a full-term pregnancy.

Although maternal lipids play an important role in excess fetal fat accretion, previous studies found heterogeneous results regarding which lipid fraction is most involved in excessive fetal growth in maternal obesity and the role of cord lipids. The aim of this study was to evaluate lipid concentrations in maternal and cord blood in pregnant women with and without obesity and to correlate lipid profile with neonatal and placental biometric parameters.

Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) models can cause neurodevelopmental abnormalities like those observed in fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). Previous studies link experimental PAE effects in the brain to impaired signaling through insulin/IGF and Notch pathways that mediate neuronal survival, growth, migration, energy metabolism, and plasticity. Importantly, concurrent administration of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor agonists or dietary soy prevented many aspects of FASD due to their insulin-sensitizing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties.
