Unlabelled: With aging, rabbit tendon tissue undergoes a series of morphological and biochemical changes which involve both the cells and the extrace-lular matrix. The extracellular matrix increases in volume, causing a relative decrease of the number of cells per unit of tissue surface. The tenoblasts become longer and more slender, while their cytoplasmic processes increase in number and become thinner and more elongated, forming a dense network. In addition, tendon cells show a marked decrease in the intracytoplasmic organelles responsible for protein synthesis, while their intracellular content of contractile proteins does not change. With aging collagen fibers increase in diameter and vary more in thickness. These morphological changes correspond to biochemical changes that include an increase in collagen, a decrease in mucopolysaccharides, and a decrease in water content. During aging parallel changes occur in the elastic fibers, which decrease in number and show structural alterations.

Clinical Relevance: Ultrastructural and biochemical studies of tendon diseases need a normal comparison. Out ultrastructural and biochemical findings in aging tendon may be useful in that regard. The presence of actin and myosin in tendon cells could be related to some aspects of tendon physiology and pathology.

Background: Plant senescence is a genetically controlled process that results in the programmed death of plant cells, organs, or the entire plant. This process is essential for nutrient recycling and supports the production of plant offspring. Environmental stresses such as drought and heat can hasten senescence, reducing photosynthetic efficiency and significantly affecting crop quality and yield.

Background: Precision nutrition-based methods develop tailored interventions and/or recommendations accounting for determinants of intra- and inter-individual variation in response to the same diet, compared to current 'one-size-fits-all' population-level approaches. Determinants may include genetics, current dietary habits and eating patterns, circadian rhythms, health status, gut microbiome, socioeconomic and psychosocial characteristics, and physical activity. In this systematic review, we examined the evidence base for the effect of interventions based on precision nutrition approaches on overweight and obesity in children and adolescents to help inform future research and global guidelines.

possesses promising flavonoid secondary metabolites. However, translation of these compounds into clinical practice for neurological disease treatment is halted as the toxicity and safety profile of the plant extracts are yet to be determined. This study was conducted to assess the acute oral toxicity and subacute neurotoxicity that could be imposed by the flavonoid-enriched fraction (FEF) extracted from leaves, by strictly following the procedures set in Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines No.

Cotton is essential for the global textile industry however, climate change, especially extreme temperatures, threatens sustainable cotton production. This research aims to identify breeding strategies to improve heat tolerance and utilize stress-resistant traits in cotton cultivars. This study investigated heat tolerance for 50 cotton genotypes at the seedling stage by examining various traits at three temperatures (32 °C, 45 °C and 48 °C) in a randomized plot experiment.

Oxygen consumption by oceanic microbes can predict respiration (CO production) but requires an assumed respiratory quotient (RQ; ΔO/ΔCO). Measured apparent RQs (ARQs) can be impacted by various processes, including nitrification and changes in dissolved organic matter (DOM) composition, leading to discrepancies between ARQ and actual RQ. In DOM remineralization experiments conducted in the eastern North Atlantic Ocean, ARQs averaged 1.
