Special problems peculiar to urinary tract infections (UTIs) in the female include higher frequency than in males, recurrent infections, restrictions on antibiotic use during pregnancy, and the "urethral syndrome." Current concepts in the management of UTI include recognition of significant infection with total count of less than 100,000 organisms per milliliter; awareness that untreated UTI usually does not lead to progressive renal failure; importance of differentiating between upper and lower UTI; use of antibody coating of bacterial for distinguishing upper from lower UTI; evidence that 1-day (or single-dose) therapy may be adequate for cystitis, whereas pyelonephritis usually requires treatment beyond 2 weeks; evidence of effective prophylaxis; and indications that Chlamydia may be responsible for some cases of urethral syndrome.

Background: A bladder outlet procedure (BOP) without augmentation cystoplasty (AC) for incontinence from neurogenic bladder has risks including renal damage and future surgeries.
Objective: Our objective was to obtain long-term outcomes after BOP without AC and identify risk factors for adverse outcomes. We hypothesized that high preoperative bladder compliance is associated with lower risk of subsequent AC or diversion (AC/D) and dimercaptosuccinic acid renal scan (DMSA) abnormalities.

Objective: To evaluate the extent of and factors associated with urine testing in US pediatric ambulatory visits for symptoms commonly associated with viral illness.
Study Design: We analyzed a nationally representative, cross-sectional sample of ambulatory clinic and emergency department (ED) visits among children 2 months to 17 years old (2014 through 2019 National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey and National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey). Using reason for visit classification codes, we identified visits for respiratory symptoms, diarrhea, or rash; termed "viral symptoms" without reported localizing genitourinary symptoms.

This study aimed to describe the ultrasonographic appearance of the liver, spleen, and kidneys in 35 healthy Santa Inês breed sheep. The spleen was located caudal to the last rib and extended to the 8th intercostal space (ICS), while the splenic vein was predominantly visible between the 11th and 10th ICS, located between the 12th and 9th ICS. The liver was visualized from the 12th to the 7th ICS, with the portal vein exhibiting a mean diameter of 15.

Purpose: The Acute Cystitis Symptom Score (ACSS) is a clinically validated instrument to assess symptoms and quality of life in women with uncomplicated urinary tract infections (uUTIs). A previous study examining the content validity of the German version of the ACSS has shown some methodological limitations when rated against the criteria for content validity of the COnsensus-based Standards for the Selection of Health Measurement INstruments (COSMIN) initiative. Extending the existing evidence, the present study aimed to assess the content validity of the German version of the ACSS according to the criteria of the COSMIN methodology.

Importance: Lupus nephritis is typically treated with intravenous cyclophosphamide, which is associated with serious adverse effects. Oral mizoribine may be an alternative for induction therapy of lupus nephritis. However, large-scale, long-term, randomized clinical studies of mizoribine are lacking.
