Recent interest in the diverse ecosystem of bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses that make up the skin microbiome has led to several studies investigating the microbiome in healthy skin and in a variety of dermatological conditions. An imbalance of the normal skin flora can cause some skin diseases, and current culture techniques are often unable to detect a microorganism to further our understanding of the clinical-microbiological correlates of disease and dysbiosis. Atopic dermatitis and rosacea are presentations that GPs often manage that may have an infective or microbiological component and can be challenging to treat.

Background/objectives: The role of α-synuclein (α-syn) pathology in Parkinson's disease (PD) is well established; however, effective therapies remain elusive. Two mechanisms central to PD neurodegeneration are the intracellular aggregation of misfolded α-syn and the uptake of α-syn aggregates into neurons. Cationic arginine-rich peptides (CARPs) are an emerging class of molecule with multiple neuroprotective mechanisms of action, including protein stabilisation.

Purpose: Cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI) can have a profound impact on the lives of cancer survivors. A multitude of subjective and objective assessment tools exist to assess the presence and severity of CRCI. However, no purpose-built tool exists to assess the unmet needs of cancer survivors directly relating to CRCI.
