Using X-ray microanalysis, the contents and distribution of Na, K, Mg, Ca and some other elements were studied in ovary and ovariole oocytes of the grass frog R. temporaria. The increased K and Mg concentrations were found in the oocyte cytoplasm pigmented zone. The concentration of K in the nucleus is higher than in the cytoplasm, whereas that of P and S lower. The same concentration of Na was found in the nucleus and cytoplasm. High concentrations of K and S are noticed in the oocyte jelly envelope.

This article presents a multi-point calibration approach for electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) for the trace element analysis of indium in sphalerite (ZnS). To define a multi-point calibration curve, indium and cadmium-doped ZnS crystals in a concentration range from 0 (blank) to ~ 1500 µg / g were used. The samples were measured with two different analytical settings (25 kV acceleration voltage and 100 nA beam current as well as 7 kV and 200 nA).

The aim of this study was to characterize the calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHA) particles present in collagen bio-stimulating materials used in facial rejuvenation procedures. Five collagen bio-stimulating materials were evaluated: Radiesse, Rennova Diamond, HarmonyCa, Victalab Bio-stimulator, and Optimus Bio-stimulator. One gram of each material was successively immersed in water to remove the organic part (carboxymethyl cellulose) until the supernatant was clear.

Laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LA ICP-MS) has emerged as a robust tool for directly measuring trace elements in solid, intact samples. Laser ablation requires minimal sample preparation, whereas more conventional bulk sample analysis entails preliminary size reduction and acid digestion, and hence risks sample contamination and volatilization losses. LA ICP-MS may allow for rapid determination of elemental constitution in plants at low detection limits; however, application of LA ICP-MS on plant tissues is challenged by sample heterogeneity, as well as the lack of recognized standards for calibration and criteria for sample preparation.

Vetulicolians are an enigmatic phylum of extinct Cambrian marine invertebrates. They are particularly diverse in the Chengjiang Biota of China, but representatives have been recovered from other Fossil-Lagerstätten (Cambrian Stage 3-Drumian). These organisms are characterized by a bipartite body, which is split into an anterior section and a posterior segmented section connected by a narrow constriction.

The sintered diffusion multiple (SDM) method, which has been developed in our research group, has been applied to determine the entire composition range of the CrMnFeCoNi high-entropy alloy stereoscopically and continuously over nearly the entire range. The samples were prepared by sintering mixed elemental powders and were annealed at 970 °C or 800 °C. Several hundreds of thousands of points were analyzed at random within the samples for chemical compositions using electron probe microanalysis.
