A significant increase in blood urea was found in 11 U.S. Navy divers during 8 d of air saturation hyperbaric exposure. Similar increases in blood urea have been found in animals that convulsed during hyperbaric oxygen exposure. Therefore, it is suggested that careful attention be given to blood ammonia and urea levels in humans during long-term hyperbaric exposure.

Background: Acute carbon monoxide poisoning (COP) has been a common cause of emergency hospital visits over the past decade. Besides the immediate symptoms of poisoning, carbon monoxide exposure can cause various long-term complications, especially delayed neurological sequelae (DNS) and myocardial injury (MI).
Methods: This study retrospectively enrolled 502 patients with COP, including complete collection data, from the Taiwan National Poison Control Center between January 1, 2000, and December 31, 2015.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a medical treatment that involves administering 100% oxygen at increased atmospheric pressure to enhance oxygen delivery to tissues. Initially developed for decompression sickness, HBOT has since been utilized for a wide range of medical conditions, including severe infections, non-healing wounds, and, more recently, COVID-19. This review explores the historical development of HBOT, its principles, its emerging role in the management of and its outcome as treatment in COVID-19, particularly in mitigating inflammation, hypoxemia, and oxidative stress.

Objective: Deep sternal wound infection (DSWI) is a rare but devastating complication that is estimated to occur in 1-2% of patients after median sternotomy. Current standard of care (SoC) comprises antibiotics, debridement and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT). Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) appears to be an effective adjuvant therapy for osteomyelitis.

Background: Several studies have explored the advantage of treatment with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) for upper extremity lymphedema in irradiated breast cancer patients and reported controversial results. This prospective case series aimed to document the short- and long-term efficacy of this therapy, focusing on the arm volume and functional assessment in breast cancer patients with a history of long-standing lymphedema for more than 2 years.
Case: Six breast cancer patients with long-standing lymphedema were enrolled.

Severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) poses significant public health challenges, but treatments like neurofeedback and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) show promise in aiding recovery. Neurofeedback enhances brain healing through operant conditioning, while HBOT increases cerebral oxygenation, supporting cognitive recovery. A 33-year-old woman, after suffering a severe TBI in 2018 and a long rehabilitation, began HBOT and neurofeedback in late 2021.
