Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) discovery has added a new paradigm to our understanding of cholesterol homeostasis and lipid metabolism. Since its discovery, PCSK9 inhibitors have become a widely investigated therapeutic class for lipid management in cardiovascular diseases and hypercholesterolemia. Scientists have explored different approaches for PCSK9 inhibition, such as monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), gene silencing and gene editing techniques, vaccines, mimetic peptides, and small molecules.

measurement and mapping of oxygen levels within the tissues are crucial in understanding the physiopathological processes of numerous diseases, such as cancer, diabetes, or peripheral vascular diseases. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) associated with biocompatible exogenous spin probes, such as Ox071 triarylmethyl (TAM) radical, is becoming the new gold standard for oxygen mapping in preclinical settings. However, these probes do not show tissue selectivity when injected systemically, and they are not cell permeable, reporting oxygen from the extracellular compartment only.

Purpose: The common approach for organ segmentation in hybrid imaging relies on coregistered CT (CTAC) images. This method, however, presents several limitations in real clinical workflows where mismatch between PET and CT images are very common. Moreover, low-dose CTAC images have poor quality, thus challenging the segmentation task.

Ambient temperature leads to differential immune strategies in the subterranean rodent Ctenomys talarum.

Grupo de Ecología Fisiológica y del Comportamiento. Instituto de Investigaciones Marinas y Costeras (IIMyC). CONICET - Universidad Nacional de Mar del Plata, Argentina.

Animal thermoregulation may have significant costs and compete directly or indirectly with other energetically demanding processes, such as immune function. Although the subterranean environment is characterized by thermally-stable conditions, small changes in ambient temperature could be critical in shaping immunity. However, little is known about the effects of ambient temperature, in naturally varying ranges, on immunity of wild species.

A juxtapapillary retinal capillary hemangioma (JRCH) is a rare vascular hamartoma located on the optic nerve head or adjacent region. While often associated with von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease, JRCHs can also occur as an isolated condition, presenting unique therapeutic challenges and risks of visual impairment. We report a case of a 50-year-old Malay gentleman with diabetes mellitus who presented with a non-progressive superior visual field defect in his left eye for three months.
