Using labeled albumin, the permeability index was determined for the aorta and other arteries of the rabbit after different circulation times. The results were reproducible. Different indices of permeability were obtained for different arteries. When the circulation time of the tracer was extended, the increase in the permeability index was greater for the coronary and femoral arteries than for the aorta. 5-hydroxytryptamine, bradykinin and prostaglandin E2 tended to increase the permeability index. There was no relation to the level of blood pressure. The different indices of permeability obtained for the different arteries were not leveled by the mediators. The permeability index is seen to become greater postmortally.

Ulcerative colitis (UC) remains a major challenge in clinical treatment due to its multivariate pathology. Developing an oral formulation that encapsulates and delivers multiple active ingredients to target colon tissues by suppressing intestinal inflammation and restoring the intestinal barrier is crucial for effectively treating UC. Here, we developed rhubarb-derived nanovesicles (RNs) and a supramolecular hydrogel platform formed by furfural-functionalized chitosan-mannose polymer and synthesized 3-maleimide HP-β-CD, with kaempferol (Kae) integrated into the hydrophobic cavity.

The limited membrane permeability and bacterial resistance pose significant challenges in the management of intracellular drug-resistant bacterial infections. To overcome this issue, we developed a bacterial-targeted drug delivery system based on quaternary ammonium chitosan-modified mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN-NH-CFP@HACC) for the treatment of intracellular Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections. This system utilizes amino-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles to efficiently load cefoperazone (CFP), and the nanoparticles' surface is coated with 2-hydroxypropyltrimethyl ammonium chloride chitosan (HACC) to target bacteria and enhance macrophage uptake.

Dexamethasone (Dex) is a primary medication for treating dry eye syndrome, and tobramycin-dexamethasone eye drops are commercially available. However, the eye's complex physiological environment reduces its bioavailability, and repeated use can lead to significant systemic toxicity and side effects. This study introduces a novel conjugate of chitosan (CS) and N-acetylcysteine (NAC), a bioadhesive material, which was grafted onto the surface of a Dex-supported nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) to develop an innovative nanoparticle lipid ocular drug delivery system (CS-NAC@Dex-NLC).

Background: C-type lectin (CTL) plays an important act in parasite adhesion, host's cell invasion and immune escape. Our previous studies showed that recombinant Trichinella spiralis C-type lectin (rTsCTL) mediated larval invasion of enteral mucosal epithelium. The aim of this study was to investigate protective immunity produced by vaccination with rTsCTL and its effect on gut epithelial barrier function in a mouse model.

Using the Ordos Basin dry sandstone and sandstone saturated with different saline concentrations as research subjects, a self-developed constant temperature and pressure CO2 injection simulation device was employed to conduct permeability tests on sandstone under varying effective stresses and CO2 injection pressures. The test results indicated that during the CO2 injection process, the permeability of dry sandstone was two orders of magnitude higher than that of sandstones saturated with different saline concentrations. When the effective stress increases from 10 MPa to 28 MPa, the fissure compressibility of reservoir sandstone is influenced by the saturation of different saline concentrations, with the compressibility coefficients for 0%, 15%, and 30% saline-saturated sandstone being 0.
